When the man at the side of the road waved at the taxi ahead of Peter, the taxi driver caught the movement in his peripheral vision.
He turned and saw the potential passenger and, caught by surprise, braked suddenly.
Peter was unprepared for this and as the distance between him and the taxi narrowed suddenly, Peter went for the brakes fast and hard.
Unfortunately the situation had unsettled him and Peter overbraked with the front brake, the front wheel locked, and Peter and bike slid to the ground.
